Up close and Personal

Thought I would post up a close up image of how the texturing will look on UryHouse. As you can see from the bellow image the final textures used have greater detail than previous ones. This is because of the introduction of Bump and Specular maps. Im very happy with the way they have come out.

Update

So not posted much recently. The back of the model has been done to allow Ross Holmes to use it within his animation in Vue. Ive began to add more detail to the front. The image below is the newest I have but not totally up to date.

Sky Replacement

This morning I have experimented with replacing a sky in an image. To create more interesting photo montages of Ury House I will likely need to add a more dramatic and interesting sky. Below you can see the picture I started with and the final image with sky replace and another few tweeks that add drama to the shot.

Texturing and Composition test

Since my last post I have been continuing with my model and today decided to do a quick test to see what the model would roughly look like when textured and placed into a photograph.

Below you can see the original photo and my composition test

As you can see above this was a quick test and the textures need a fair bit of work. I like the brick texture which can be edited and used, but the slate texture used on the roof tiles poorly and will need to be replaced. I think on the whole this is an interesting composition and works pretty well for a quick test. Placing the model in a photo brings it to life and adds a sense of realism.

Ury House Model Progress

After the hectic process of getting the Interim show ready I have made some progress on my model of Ury house. As you can see the front is really coming together but a lot of detail is still to be added.

Forbes Massie of Extrude Media kindly talked to me regarding the progress and offered suggestions and help and I'm sure he will be a great help to me.

Digital Media Interim Show 2008

The Digital Media interim show is now up in the Grays School of Art foyer. Included in the show are fellow classmates David Moles and Ross Holmes who are also producing architectural visuals. If you are not able to catch the show please take the time to visit their blogs. There’s a link to them on the ‘Student Blog Links’ section.

Interior Test

This morning I experimented with creating a very simple interior scene that was the same layout as the Reception of Ury House. I used 3DS Max and Vray to create and render this scene. Below is a render of what I created.

Todays Progress

Today I have continued work on Ury House. Ive began adding in the arches in the Main Entrance.

I also took a break and experimented with creating grass. Below is what I have come up with.

Afternoon Progress

This afternoon I have started modeling my final Ury House model. As you can see below I have created the general shape and have begun to add detail, so far the main entrance has an Arch.

Morning Progress

Well this morning I thought I would look at creating a golf ball as it will feature in my final animation. Below are some images that I created showing different rendering methods.

I am quite happy how these turned out. I think I have created a realistic looking model and render output.

Yesterday - Meeting

Hi all, Yesterday I met with Richard again to discuss ideas for the final output given to FM. It was decided that a mix of Still and Animation would be needed to be produced. This will allow for population of the website and also DVD content. Richard is hoping to get these ASAP so its full steam ahead to create the images and animations. Hoping to get all finished and polished in around 6 weeks, tops.

Roll on 2008

Since my last post I have met with Richard and he seems very enthusiastic about the progress so far. A meeting with Grant Watson at Touch3D has made it apparent that I need to re-think camera angles (much lower to reduce the amount of environment modeling needed) so this is what I have been doing. Apart from that and getting ready for the hand in on the 14th.

I have also been experimenting with a few modeling techniques to create the land with the help of CAD drawings I received from FMDevelopments.
